1. How PhoneMart works
1.1 What we are
PhoneMart is an online store operated by I Repair Dar Limited at phonemart.uk. Through the Site:
- consumers can buy refurbished smartphones, tablets, laptops and accessories directly from PhoneMart;
- private individuals can sell their used devices directly to PhoneMart through our Trade-in service.
PhoneMart is the seller of every product listed on the Site and the buyer of every device accepted through Trade-in. We do not host listings from third-party sellers, we are not a marketplace or intermediary, and no other business is party to your purchase or trade-in contract.
1.2 Where our products come from
Our stock is sourced from customer trade-ins, business fleet returns, network and retailer returns, and wholesale suppliers of pre-owned devices. Every unit is inspected, tested, data-wiped and where necessary repaired in our UK facility before being graded and listed. We do not list a device until it has passed our full functional test.
1.3 Our relationship with manufacturers
PhoneMart is an independent retailer. We are not an authorised reseller, agent or partner of Apple, Samsung, Google or any other manufacturer unless expressly stated. Brand names and trade marks appear on the Site only to identify the products we sell. Manufacturer warranties on refurbished devices have usually expired; the warranty you receive is PhoneMart's own (section 4).
2. Products, condition grades and how listings are ranked
2.1 Condition grades
Every product is sold under one of the following cosmetic grades. All grades are fully functional and pass the same technical tests; the grade describes appearance only.
| Grade | Cosmetic condition | Battery health (where measurable) |
|---|---|---|
| Fair | Visible scratches and marks on screen and body; possible small dents or chips. Screen fully readable, no cracks. | At least 80% |
| Good | Light scratches on body, minor marks on screen visible under light. | At least 85% |
| Excellent | Very light signs of use, screen looks new at normal viewing distance. | At least 90% |
| Premium | Near-new appearance, no visible marks at arm's length. | At least 90% |
Detailed grading criteria, including what counts as a hard fail (screen cracks, liquid damage, bent chassis, non-genuine parts) are published on our Grading Standards page.
2.2 What is included
Unless the listing states otherwise, every device is supplied network-unlocked, factory-reset, with a compatible charging cable. Original box, headphones, mains adapter and manufacturer accessories are not included. Where a device has a replaced part (screen, battery, camera) we state this on the listing and whether the part is genuine or high-quality compatible.
2.3 How products are ranked on the Site
When you browse a category or search, the default sort order is "Recommended". This order is determined by an automated ranking that takes into account:
- relevance to your search terms or filters (model, storage, colour, grade);
- popularity: how often the product has been viewed and bought recently;
- stock availability: in-stock items rank above items awaiting stock;
- price competitiveness: how the price compares to similar units in the same grade;
- listing completeness: whether photos, specifications and condition notes are complete.
We do not accept payment from any third party to influence ranking, and no brand or supplier can pay for placement. Promotional banners and "Deal" labels are clearly marked as such. You can change the sort order at any time to price (low to high, high to low), newest, or grade.
2.4 Personalised pricing
We do not personalise prices based on your browsing history, device or profile. Every visitor sees the same price for the same listing at the same time. Prices may differ between grades, storage sizes and colours, and may change over time as stock and market prices change.
3. Financial terms
3.1 Prices
All prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT at the applicable rate. Refurbished devices sold under the VAT margin scheme show VAT-inclusive prices but the invoice will not separately itemise VAT, as the law requires for margin-scheme sales. Standard delivery (3 to 4 working days) is free. Express delivery (1 to 2 working days) is charged at a flat rate shown at checkout before you confirm your order.
3.2 No service fee
PhoneMart does not charge a platform, intermediation or service fee on top of the product price. The price shown, plus the express delivery charge if you choose it, is the full amount you pay.
3.3 How you pay
Payment is taken at checkout through Stripe. PhoneMart receives the payment directly as the seller. Card and wallet payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI DSS certified provider; your full card number is never held by PhoneMart. We also offer instalment payments with Klarna. Klarna is provided by Klarna Financial Services UK Limited under its own terms; any agreement to pay in instalments is between you and Klarna, is available to eligible UK residents aged 18 or over and is subject to status. PhoneMart is paid in full at checkout and is not the lender.
3.4 Trade-in payments
PhoneMart pays you directly for accepted trade-ins by bank transfer or, at your choice, in Store Credit. There is no fee for using Trade-in.
3.5 Refunds
Refunds are made to the original payment method.
4. Guarantees and statutory rights
4.1 Statutory rights
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, every product we sell must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. For a refurbished product, "satisfactory quality" takes into account that it is pre-owned and sold under a stated cosmetic grade, but functional faults are never acceptable.
If a product is faulty:
- within 30 days of delivery you can reject it for a full refund;
- within 6 months you are entitled to a repair or replacement; if that fails, a refund. The product is presumed to have been faulty at delivery unless we can show otherwise;
- up to 6 years (5 in Scotland) you may still be entitled to a remedy if you can show the fault was present at delivery.
These rights are not affected by anything in our terms or by the PhoneMart warranty.
4.2 Right to cancel
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you can cancel an online order for any reason within 14 days of receiving the product and return it for a full refund, including standard delivery cost. Full details and the return procedure are in our Terms of Sale and Returns Policy.
4.3 PhoneMart warranty
In addition to your statutory rights, every device we sell is covered by a 24-month PhoneMart warranty against functional defects, starting on the date of delivery. The warranty covers repair, replacement or refund at our choice for any hardware fault not caused by accident, misuse, liquid or unauthorised repair, and includes battery health falling below 80%. Accessories carry a 12-month warranty. Full terms are on our Warranty page.
4.4 How to make a claim
Log in to your account, open the order and click Get help, or use WhatsApp chat (+44 7913 170620, 9am to 9pm UK time) or the contact form on the Site. We will confirm how to return the device; you post it to us by tracked, insured post and we reimburse reasonable postage once the fault is confirmed as covered. Warranty repairs are carried out in our own facility.
5. Customer reviews
5.1 Who can leave a review
Only customers who have bought a product from PhoneMart can review that product. After delivery we email an invitation with a unique link; reviews can also be submitted from the My Orders page in your account. Reviews cannot be submitted anonymously by people who have not purchased.
5.2 Verification
Every review is linked to an order. We label reviews as Verified purchase because we have matched the review to a completed order for that product. We do not accept reviews from any other source and do not import reviews from other websites.
5.3 No incentives
We do not pay for reviews, offer discounts in exchange for reviews, or request positive reviews. The invitation asks for an honest opinion. Staff and their household members may not review our products.
5.4 Editing and deleting
You can edit your review within 30 days of submitting it, and delete it at any time, from the My Orders page.
5.5 Moderation
Reviews are published within 48 hours unless they are held for moderation. We remove or decline to publish reviews only where they:
- contain personal data (names, phone numbers, order numbers, addresses);
- are abusive, discriminatory, defamatory or otherwise unlawful;
- concern something other than the product or our service (for example, a courier's behaviour is redirected to customer service rather than published as a product review);
- are spam, advertising or clearly not written by the purchaser.
We do not remove reviews because they are negative, and we do not alter review text. Where we reply to a review, the reply is clearly marked as from PhoneMart.
5.6 Ratings
The star rating shown on a product is the arithmetic mean of all published reviews for that listing, updated as reviews are added or removed. Grade-level and model-level averages are shown where a product has several listings.
6. Environmental and recycling information
6.1 Recycling old devices
If you have an old device you no longer want, you can sell it to us through Trade-in. Devices with no trade-in value can still be sent to us for responsible recycling, contact us and we will explain how. Do not dispose of devices or their batteries in household waste; they contain materials that must be recycled through licensed facilities.
6.2 Packaging
We use recyclable packaging wherever possible.
7. Dispute resolution
7.1 Talk to us first
If something has gone wrong, contact our customer service team by email at [email protected], by WhatsApp chat (+44 7913 170620, 9am to 9pm UK time), or through your account. PhoneMart is an online-only store and does not operate a telephone line. We aim to acknowledge complaints within 2 working days and resolve them within 14 days.
7.2 Escalation
If you are not satisfied with the first response, ask for the matter to be escalated. A manager will review it and reply in writing within 10 working days with a final response.
7.3 Alternative dispute resolution
PhoneMart is not a member of an approved alternative dispute resolution (ADR) scheme and is not obliged to use one. If we cannot resolve your complaint, you can obtain free, impartial advice from the Citizens Advice consumer service on 0808 223 1133 or at citizensadvice.org.uk.
7.4 Courts
Nothing in this page or our terms prevents you bringing a claim in court. Our terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales; if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also use the courts of the country where you live.
8. Previous versions
Previous versions of this page, our Terms of Use, Terms of Sale, Trade-in Terms and Privacy Policy are archived and available on request from [email protected]. The version that applies to an order or trade-in is the version in force on the date you placed it.
